George Oraro is one of Kenya’s top litigators, with over 40 years of experience. He has been recognized as one of the leading litigators by Chambers Global and Legal 500 and has been ranked in the highest tier in dispute resolution – Band 1. George has handled numerous landmark disputes at national, regional and international levels. He advises clients in major commercial transactions and has been the team leader in some of Kenya’s largest capital raising and debt restructuring transactions. He served as a Commissioner of Assize equivalent to a High Court Judge in 1986. George has served in various committees in the Nairobi Securities Exchange (“NSE”) and Capital Markets Authority (“CMA”) and was one of the key professionals, involved in providing the legal and regulatory framework for capital markets, during the CMA’s formative phase. He was a member of the CMA’s Advisory Legal Panel and the CMA Disclosure and Standards Committee. George was also involved in drafting the Initial Public Offering and Take-over and Mergers Regulations. In 2012 the President of the Republic of Kenya, recognized George for his exemplary service to the legal and public service in Kenya and conferred upon him the rank of the dignity of Senior Counsel.
